Vag-Expert operates a professional turbocharger reconditioning workshop. We are equipped with a full range of specialized tools, including advanced balancing machines for turbo repair and a TurboTest Cimat test bench. Our team is fully trained and experienced in turbocharger reconditioning. We recondition all types of turbochargers for passenger cars, trucks, and industrial machines.
A turbocharger, often simply called a “turbo,” is an engine component that supplies additional air to the cylinders, allowing for more efficient combustion of the air-fuel mixture. By forcing more air into the combustion chamber, the turbo increases the engine’s power output. A turbocharger consists of two parts — the turbine and the compressor — connected by a shaft.
Identifying turbocharger failure by the driver is not always easy, which is why faults often go unnoticed for a long time. Warning signs of a failing turbo may include a noticeable drop in engine power, loud turbo noises, or thick, dark (black or bluish) smoke coming from the exhaust.
1. Diagnostics and Disassembly
We begin with a detailed assessment and external inspection, followed by full disassembly of the turbocharger.
2. Cleaning and Evaluation
All components are thoroughly cleaned. The housing is treated to remove any contamination or corrosion. Each part is carefully inspected for wear or damage.
3. Replacement of Worn Parts Damaged or worn-out parts are replaced with new, original components. We always replace the rotor bearing, thrust rings, oil deflectors, and all sealing elements, regardless of wear.
4. Balancing and Testing After reassembly, the turbocharger undergoes precise balancing and is tested on the TurboTest Cimat bench. During testing, the turbo is accelerated from 40,000 rpm up to 250,000 rpm, simulating real operating conditions to ensure peak performance.
5. Final Assembly and Quality Check The turbocharger is reassembled and undergoes final quality control checks to ensure it is fully operational and ready for installation.
Thanks to our advanced reconditioning process, you regain full turbo performance at just a fraction of the cost of buying new.
